This review examines the impact of electoral support interventions in preventing election-related violent political instability, conflict, and atrocities. Key findings indicate that security sector engagement and strengthening election management bodies are the most effective in reducing violence. There is some evidence supporting voter education and election monitoring, while peace messaging and youth programming show limited impact. The review highlights the essential role of the state in ensuring peaceful elections, supported by civil society and international organisations. However, rigorous assessments are limited, and further research is needed on long-term effects and the specific pathways by which these interventions reduce violence.en
