Until recently the issue of menstrual hygiene management (MHM) for women and girls in emergencies had been somewhat overlooked by agencies engaged in humanitarian response. Lack of leadership, coordination and collaboration across key humanitarian sectors has resulted in the de‑prioritisation of MHM in emergency response and programming. Yet menstruation is a biological fact of life and one that will continue unabated – and all the more challenging – during emergencies.en
