This working paper highlights the key points and emerging policy themes arising from a virtual event hosted by the Global Coalition Against Child Poverty (GCACP) and the Impact Initiative in May 2020. The event concentrated on one impact pathway: engagement with global advocacy movements. The discussion explored engagement between researchers and global advocacy movements, and how research evidence can be placed front and centre when advocating for change. It also built upon an analysis of research funded by the ESRC-DFID Strategic Partnership that showed a critical mass of relevant research relating to the objectives of the Global Coalition to End Child Poverty and explored the perspectives of both ESRC-DFID grant holders and members of the Coalition when connecting research with global movements and using research to achieve change.
