While on the one hand Zimbabwean society expects Religious Education in schools to help children develop into responsible adults who are morally and spiritually mature, on the other hand at secondary school level the subject does not seem to be accorded the support that would enable it to fulfd its primary objectives of positively moulding the character of our youth. This paper sets out to identify some of the problems that affect this subject which would need to be addressed if it is to be effective.
