Laser is still a new weapon in the service of medicine and its main clinical value is in the treatment of detached retinae. The object of this paper is to report on the successful outcome in a particularly difficult type of detached retina in a young woman — incidentally, the first reported case in Rhodesia — and also to stress the type of case in which we have found Laser to be of most value.
Laser is another of those initial words to which we have become increasingly accustomed in this technological world and stands for Light Amplification by Stimulated Emission of Radiation.
A CAJM article on laser technology.
