This Special Issue of Wellbeing, Space & Society aims to shed new light on locally grounded and contested processes of placemaking in a global context of profound urban displacement. It examines placemak?ing as the processes by which spaces are imbued with meaning to become places (Ho and Douglass, 2008) and assesses its significance for displaced people’s wellbeing.
