This paper aims to show that resistance in Mutoko District started much earlier than I896 and lasted longer than in many districts in the country, mainly because of geographical factors. The paper will explain why Gurupira had to collaborate with BSAC forces despite the disapproval of the Medium of Nehoreka. On the whole, the paper aims to show the impact of Colonial Rule on the people of Mutoko up to 1906.

A history seminar paper systematically analysing how the native people of Mutoko (Zimbabwe) were resisting colonial penetration of their lands in the period 1885 to 1906. Paper Presented At History Seminar, History Seminar Room, UZ, Mt. Pleasant, Harare, 22 November, (4.30pm).
